Car Rental for Cotswold

We will be taking the train from London to Oxford on a Sunday in early October
The intent is to spend a few hours Sunday in Oxford and drive to our lodging in Upper Slaughter where we will spend Sunday-Tuesday nights. Early on Wed morning we will visit Stonehenge and return the car in Bath where we will spend a half day before returning to London via train.

Does this agenda look feasible?

Will my US (Illinois) driver's license be accepted for rental?

Is there a significant surcharge for the Oxford pickup with Bath return?

The first thing is to check whether there is somewhere to hire a car in Oxford on a Sunday afternoon - quite likely not.

Secondly are you going to Oxford straight from the airport or after some time in London? Fine if the latter but I would have concern about driving on narrow country roads on what for you is the “wrong” side of the road quite likely jet lagged.

The drop-off fee may or may not be significant- you need to check on your dates.

Taking into account your plan is probably feasible although depressingly familiar for US visitors.

If you can find a rental place open on a Sunday, drop-off fee will be around GBP 100.

Your agenda is doable, if you have little or no interest in Oxford or Bath.

Hi, we went to Oxford last June and rented a car from Europcar, located at Littlemead Business Park. (We returned the car in Chester.). We bought their insurance coverage.

They are closed on Sundays and also close at 1pm on Saturdays.

Yes, your US license is fine.
