Car Rental Bath/London question

We are getting a car in Scotland and finishing up our trip in Bath and then London. We are trying to figure out when/where to return the car.

We do not need our car in London.

Does it make more sense to drop it off in Bath then take the train to London? Drop it off in Bristol and then drive to London? Or is there a convenient outskirts-of-London dropoff I don't know about? (Husband does not want to drive in London).

Thank you!

We did the same thing a couple years ago. Rented in Edinburgh, stayed in York and Bath, and returned the car in Bath, took the train to London, Worked out just fine.

If you won't need the car after Bath, return it in Bath. Assuming that your rental company has an office there that will be open when you're done with the car. If it doesn't, look for the nearest office where you can return it and get a train to London. That might be Bristol, or another city closer to London. Worst case, Heathrow Airport could be the dropoff point, though the drive there would be miserable. Your husband is right about driving in London, nothing but a pain.

We just did this in May, you will have a wonderful time! We did keep the car in Bath for one day to drive to Salisbury and then visit Stonehenge. And then we returned it in Bath. It was easy to take the train into London and stress free. You do not want a car in London.
