Car parks in York?

I'm staying near Helmsley and on a Sunday morning (mid-April), I will be making the drive south to spend the day in York. However, I would prefer (I think) to park outside the city center in one of the car parks. Can anyone recommend one that is convenient and easy to get to? Thanks!

I would check the Park and ride at Monks Cross.

What I can say is Parking in York is notably expensive and difficult to find

Richard, I'm hoping everyone will be in church on Sunday and let me find a parking spot in peace. 🤣

Stuart, thanks! I think what I'm going to do is stop in at the National Railway Museum first. I found out that i can park there for £10, visit the museum and then just walk to the city center, which is around 15-20 minutes away, and spend the day there. That seems relatively simple and my car is good until 6:30 pm that evening when the car park closes.

when I saw Natl Railway Museum and car I saw in my minds eye the carpark immediately adjacent because I had to walk around it. It is quite convenient.

If the additional cost isn't an issue it might be more convenient. A Sunday should be way easier.

Good to know, Nigel - thanks! Actually, though, I changed it from Sunday to Monday since York Minster doesn't open till late on Sunday and I want to get an early start. But hopefully it won't be too bad.

Stuart, that would be great but I can't figure out how to book it. I pulled up the link and it explains it all but I don't see a link to book it. Maybe I have to wait till it gets closer to the date? I emailed them to ask so hopefully they will get back with me.
