We will be joining the Villages of Southern England tour in June 2020 starting in Canterbury. I am looking for lodging recommendations for the 1 night before.
We stayed at Peregrine House, not far from the bus station and the Cathedral. A small hotel with a good breakfast. Rooms were ample and quiet. Would stay there again.
We stayed at the hotel the tour uses. We asked for and got the room we had for the tour. Saved a move.
I will be doing this tour in August, and have arranged to stay in the tour hotel.
Clare Ellen Guest House is fantastic. Its a 7 minute walk from Canterbury East Train Station and a 15 minute walk to Canterbury Cathedral.
I’ll ask which hotel is the tour hotel? My tour stayed at the Abode while others stayed in Canterbury Lodge. I did an extra night at the Abode and it was fine but the location of the Lodge was so cool!
I’m also pretty lazy so I don’t want to change hotels any more than I have to. This itinerary has 2 one-nighters so keep that in mind when you are planning. It might not bother you!
In your extra time do walk along the river. My brother and I were out early to look for birds and there were lots of locals out walking their dogs. Very fun.
We stayed at the Millers Arms and loved the location. The hotel was nice, but we didn’t like the room on the backside of the hotel because we could smell everything cooking in the kitchen. The room itself was nice. Get a room on the front side of the hotel.
