Canterbury Cathedral Lodge

Has anyone stayed at the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge on the Rick Steve's Tours? If so, just curious what room type does the tour book? It will be my husband and I traveling. Just curious if the rooms have views of the Cathedral or not.

Yes, I have but I can only speak for my own room and my friends’ rooms. My tour was a couple of years before the virus shut everything down so this info comes with that caveat. All our rooms had fabulous views of the Cathedral, which is especially beautiful when lit up at night. The rooms were very nice, on the larger side and well appointed. There was something so special about staying right there on the grounds, having to “check in” with the guards and enter through the Cathedral gates at night! Even as wonderful as the rooms and views were, I could rave even more so about the breakfast! Let’s just say I bet you’ll be pleased……

I have stayed at the Lodge twice; the last time was the last week of September. A Rick Steve's tour was also there just starting on out.
Location - It is awesome and wandering around the Cathedral grounds at night is beautiful.
Breakfast - Included in all rooms and very good.
Rooms - I have stays both times in the Annex. The rooms are slightly cheaper, but clean and comfortable (large bed, tv, chair). Note: There is no elevator in the Annex and the rooms are up on the 2nd floor. There is a water machine for filling bottles on the main floor that does cold, room temperature and sparking water.

I had no idea a tour stayed at the Lodge. Over covid, I became a fan of Dean Robert and his garden congregation videos. Even though he is retired now and not in Canterbury, I would be interested in seeing the grounds.

I stayed there this year the night before my Rick Steve's Tour. We then went to a different hotel for the tour. I loved it and would highly recommend it.
The room was very comfortable, waking around the grounds after hours was a joy. I got the best pictures as there was no one around .....The breakfast in the morning was also very nice...
