Camden area of london

Hi,

looking at accommodation in London and wanting either an apartment of hotel that includes breakfast. A very tight budget. The place I am looking at is 875 pounds for 5 nights and I really don't want to go over that (there are 2 adults and 2 kids), but I have heard Camden ios not a great area especially at night walking with kids. The accommodation is on Cartwright Gardens Camden. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I haven't been to Camden in some time, and don't really hear any bad reports, but as a local, gut feel tells me, I wouldn't be walking around there at night. Central West London (Marble Arch to Tower Bridge, Oxford Street to the Thames incl. the South Bank) at night is totally fine, normal common sense applies. I'd love it if someone more familiar with that area could tell me it's totally fine, as I'd like to go myself. Anywhere central'ish in London during the day is basically fine.

Also, your budget fits right in with a Travelodge, simple but always clean and reliable, then you could stay in almost any part of town you wished. They have 2a+2k rooms as a standard option.

Midway between Euston Station and St Pancras Station on the south side of Euston road. Nearby is a Premier Inn, the Pullman, the fire brigade, and a small park.

Nowhere near Camden Town, nearest tube either Euston, Kings Cross St Pancras, or Euston Square, and not a million miles away from Russel Square.

A decent neighborhood, much better at night (and in the daytime) than Camden Town - imho.

We are staying here this summer:

She also has another one on the top floor, look in the listing for the #. It is in Belsize Park which appears to be a nice area... we have to tube into the city, but figured we would be riding to tube anyway.

Not sure when you are going as she is pretty booked up. But I would try vrbo!

Slavender - Have a look at the Falcon Hotel (www.falcon-hotel.com) they have Quad rooms for £155 per night. I have stayed there and the hotel has met my needs quite well. It is located very near Paddington Station.

Thank you all for your replies. although we have stayed in plenty of "not so flash" areas in the past in various countries, would like to be a bit lazier with the kids with us.
