Cambridge Omission in RS Guide--The American Military Cemetery

Prefatorily, if my comments about the RS England guidebook are wrong, someone please correct me, and my apologies to the RS staff.

But in the England edition I have, there is no mention of the American Military Cemetery outside Cambridge. The cemetery is beautifully maintained and moving. You can easily get that by buying on the X3 bus outside the Cambridge train station a round-trip ticket. It is our only military cemetery in the UK. It contains the graves of over 3,800 Americans; some of the graves have no names. Then there is a great wall showing the names of over 5,800 Americans who were killed in WW2 and whose bodies were never recovered (many in the air war over Germany and the Battle of the Atlantic).

I've mentioned the Cambridge American Military Cemetery and Memorial many times here over the years.

Nigel, without checking, I probably learned about the X3 bus at the train station from one of your posts. Before going, I did check out the RS forum posts on the cemetery in deciding whether I wanted to and how to get there. I was inspired by the Apple series Masters of the Air to look for 8th Air Force sites near Cambridge (many are closed in the winter).

I remember that thread of yours from about 6 months ago when we looked in depth at the various air force sites in and around Cambridge

It’s on my list for a future Cambridge visit. There’s also the Imperial war museum Duxford. But that seems a bit more difficult to reach without a car. Probably need a taxi service.

Yes, I remember your helpful posts. Most of the sites I wanted to visit were closed given the time of year.
