Cambridge King's College:Bene't Street Hostel B&B?

I really would love to be able to peruse the college grounds at Kings College, and eat in the massive dining room , as my niece was there a few years ago. Rather than being able to stay in Kings.....you stay at Bene't Street Hostel B&B. Has anyone stayed there? I was wondering what access you get (and can you eat in the "Harry Potter" style dining room.

Thanks!

I have no knowledge of this, but reading the Kings College website I can’t see any indication that staying in the college hostel permits you to dine in the dining hall.

Any information about dining in hall seems to be either aimed at students, or those who want to book the hall for private dining.

Anyway I suggest you contact the college directly for the definitive answer. Please don’t book the hostel with the assumption that guests get to eat “in hall.”

My husband did academic work at Oxford and the college dining halls are not open to the public for meals at any time as far as I know. They are in use year round by students during the academic year and visiting students and academic programs during the summer months.
BTW it was the dining hall at Christ Church, not Kings, that the Harry Potter replica was modeled after. Other scenes were actually filmed at Christ Church as well as other locations in Oxford for the first few films. You can pay for a ticket and take a walking tour through Christ Church. You can do the same at the Bodleian Library to see the Divinity School and Duke Humphrey's Library. The did film in the Divinity School but a replica of the library was built since the Bodleian is very particular about who they will let into that part of the library...my husband was a student there and even HE couldn't get in to that part of the library.

Well, my bad. I assumed the hostel’s own website would mention the great hall.

But the university rooms’ site does seem to suggest you can eat breakfast there.

Thanks all! Looks like after I sent them an email directly, they updated the website that now indicates one is able to dine in the great Hall. I’ll let you know in a few weeks! As I’m going to try Kings as well as Christ’s.

Cheers all!

Update: I did in fact get to dine in the great hall, and the Bennt street lodgings were very close. Also free access to the huge chapel and to the grounds normally closed to the public. Sadly, no library access , which would have been awesome.

Cheers!
