Cab from Redhill to Heathrow

We will be staying with friends in Redhill(Surrey) and need to get to Heathrow by 10 am for our return flight. Taxi looks like the easiest way, and I know it will be expensive but much cheaper than the hotel room we had booked. My question is this: are we likely to run into major delays on the way to the airport because of traffic volume and/or construction?

You never know what you’ll encounter on the M25 until the day and hour you start your journey. If it were me, I’d stay in a hotel near LHR the night before. The money spent would be well spent for peace of mind. Have you looked at a Premier Inn hotel near or in a terminal? The cost is usually not eye watering.

Another idea is train to Reading then rail/air bus to Heathrow

There are various public transport routes you could consider. All are rather longer notionally than the M25 by car (taxi) but as said, who knows on the day. Also it does depend somewhat on what terminal you are going to.

A few that comes to mind additional to the above are:
Thameslink to Farringdon, Elizabeth line to Heathrow.
Southern to Victoria, Nat Express coach to Heathrow or tube.
GWR to Guildford, Railair coach to Heathrow (rather infrequent).

Personally I'd prefer the day before, whatever the way.

Everyone who has answered has a good point!

I’ve had luck with an Uber - if you are stuck in traffic, the meter doesn’t keep going UP and UP and UP like in a cab.

But honestly? I am with Mona on this one. A hotel room at LHR the night before is soooooo worth it in terms of peace of mind, especially if you have a 10am flight. Yikes!

Yes. I would definitely do that. :-) (And have done in the past, which is why I recommend it!)

As others have said, hotel at LHR the night before.
The M25 can easily turn into a giant car park at any time, sometimes for no apparent reason. An accident can result in hours of delay.
