We want to see all three places and are considering a bus tour from London. Or we can start in Oxford. Suggestions, please. We will also have 3 days in London.
For the bus tour, see if you can get some information about how long you'll spend in each place. For example, if they give you only an hour in Oxford, you might think that's not enough.

I'm guessing this is your first trip? Does the 3 days include this as one of the days or do you have 3 days plus a day for a trip outside London?
To me, you are trying to see too much. I would probably do a day trip to Windsor Castle on your own (easy to do). You can head out there, see the castle and head back to London mid-afternoon for more sights there.
I would save Stonehenge for next time and plan to spend 2 nights in Salisbury so you can take the local bus company's bus out to the stones, stay as long as you like as well as seeing the Cathedral and the Magna Carta.
My opinion, of course, lol!
If this is your first trip to London, I agree with Pam. Oxford, Stonehenge, and Windsor are too much for one day. Windsor is an easy day trip from London that you can do yourselves. Oxford is worth at least a full day on its own. Salisbury plus Stonehenge is worth another full day. All easily reached by train from London (different stations). But you have so little time in London that I'd recommend staying there and seeing more of that great city.
My question when someone tries to squeeze too many destinations into too few days is, what is your motivation? Are you just trying to set foot in all of these places so you can say you've been there? Do you really enjoy riding on a bus for hours instead of soaking up the local culture? If you are really keen on all three of these destinations because of personal interest (as opposed to being persuaded by travel brochures or other people's praise), then eliminate at least one of your 3 days in London to get more time to enjoy these three.
I appreciate all the feedback about seeing several sites in a short time. We have decided to cut Stonehenge, spend a night in Oxford, and 4 nights in London, which will allow us time to go to Windsor. The big problem I have is trying to grasp travel time and space, as this is our first trip to England. I know we'll understand this afterwards. I hope that someday we can do a second trip. Thank you!
I think you're making a wise choice. You could even do Oxford as a long day trip from London, to avoid moving bags and changing hotels. There are frequent trains from Paddington, the trip takes about an hour, and a day return (round trip the same day) ticket costs just a little more than a single (one way). See the National Rail website for options.
You can see a lot of the colleges and other Oxford sights in a day, it's compact and walkable. Head east from the station and you'll find yourself in the midst of the city and university in a few minutes. A very good guided walk leaves from the TI on Broad Street (the "University and City" tour sold inside the TI, better than those touted out in front). Not spending the night there will save you a couple of hours at least. Go early, stay late, travel light, and enjoy it.
We will look for the walking tour. Thank you for your advice. I hope we can come back.
