Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle or Cambridge

We will be in London for a repeat visit and have too much to see and too few days to take it all in. I need to delete one. Which would you recommend deleting. We will be going in August so a tour of Buckingham Palace with the gardens and mews is an option. Going out to Windsor takes the best part of the day, as does going out to Cambridge. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If there is a chance that you will visit again (this isn't your first and might not be your last visit?) and you haven't seen any of these places before, you might choose Buckingham Palace, as it is only open for a limited period in the year. The other sites are open year round and you could have a better chance to see them on your next visit. If your time is limited, you can tailor your Palace visit to fit your schedule, seeing only the parts you want to make time for and leaving you in the city to continue your sightseeing. Windsor and Cambridge would be more demanding on the time you have, taking up more time for travel.

As Buckingham Palace is open only at specific times of year, maybe just late summer, I would suggest you see it. The other places you can visit any time of year. We enjoyed our Buck House visit and a tour of the garden.

I agree with the others who have posted. We went on the Buckingham Palace tour and enjoyed it a lot and we were happy that we visited during the time of year that tours were offered. We also enjoyed Windsor, and I have not been to Cambridge.

I think if I toured Buckingham Palace, I would choose a day out in Cambridge over Windsor Castle. As a bit of a change-up from yet another Royal venue. I did a day trip to Cambridge with London Walks and still remember how much I enjoyed it, 8 years later. It included a visit to the astonishingly lovely and moving Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial Site just outside town, which I'd never heard of and which I'm so glad I visited.

I'd like to visit Cambridge again someday and explore some more, with one of the local guided walk/tour companies.

That said, I think I'm overdue for a repeat visit to Windsor (town and Castle), lol. It's just that, as I said, I think Cambridge would provide some nice variety on the same trip where you visit Buckingham Palace.

Is this what a Brit would call "spoiled for choice"? Anyway, it's a nice dilemma to deal with. Good luck!

I've been to all three and loved all three. Because Buckingham Palace is rarely open to the public, I would pick it of the three, as previous posters said. It is lovely.

I'm about to take my 3rd trip to London, and have only been in August once. It's hard for me to get to London, even harder in August.
