Broadway play /Theater

We will be staying at the Washington Mayfair hotel for my 1st trip to London. We love broadways musicals and would like to attend a broadway play while there.
Is there any recommendations from those of you that know the area for which theater is best/close to the hotel? I was online looking tonight and there seems to be several options but without knowing the area we are not sure which one to choose.
Thank you so much in advance for your idea!

Few things.

Saying “Broadway” play decrees the play was produced in the States then went abroad.

Not always the case. Best example would be Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS!

Covent Garden is considered the “ theatre “ neighborhood.

WhatsOnStage website will tell you what plays will be in production during your travel dates.

Some musicals there are:

Les Miserables is at the Sondheim
Hamilton is at Victoria Palace
Get Up Stand Up is at the Lyric
Wicked is at the Apollo

All of these theatres will be easy to get to via the London Underground.

Saw Hamilton in 2020. Brilliant. The renovated Victoria Underground Station is virtually across the road.

If you were to walk to Covent Garden I’d say 25 mintues.

The tube from Green Park station to the Covent Garden station on the Piccadilly Line is a 5 minute ride. The Green Park Underground station from your hotel is a 5 minute stroll.

Broadway is in New York. In London, it's referred to as "The West End." As in "West End musicals."

There are musicals galore. Don't worry about which one is closest as most are clustered in the same area. Find one you want and go.

You can buy some tickets at a reduced price through TKTS. They have a booth at Leicester Square or you can now buy tickets online.

We really enjoyed Hamilton at Victoria Palace to celebrate my partner's birthday 3 years ago.

We're heading to Moulin Rouge on Friday and Cabaret, Saturday. Two very dynamic shows. Can't wait!! That said, they have all the classics here too.

Theatremonkey styles itself as something of an alternative to the standard theatre box offices and ticket agencies. It offers show reviews, ticket deals, and advice about the theatres themselves including seating plans and seats to avoid.
There is still an agency selling last-minute tickets at a discount. These bargains may be for shows that have worn out their run rather than the big hits. One small warning: Sometimes tickets in the front couple of rows are posted. Those seats might be right against the front edge of the stage giving a fine view of the cast's knee-caps. Not such a bargain.

With the widespread public transportation systems, hotel location may be less of a concern. I prefer to be a little apart from the rush and crowding of central London, although only by one or two Tube stops. Access to train stations and airports concern me more.
