British Airways complains to UK Government about Border Force inefficiencies....

There is a sense of deja vu about all of this....

The e-passport gates are important to non-European visitors even though they can't use them, because they free up staff to handle the other lines.

in 2008 a critical report slammed inefficencies in the UK border controls, a minister resigned and the whole thing was reorganised as UK Border Agency. In 2013 a critical report resulted in the minister of that year, Theresa May (yes, that one) reorganisng it again and creating Border Force. And guess what, the delays are getting worse. And if you complain you are treated as a terrorist sympathiser.

Anyway, stand by for another name change, but not much else...........

I can use the electronic gates since I have Registered Traveler. However, the last couple of times coming through T5, the machines couldn't read my passport and I had to go wait on a separate line. (Not the regular line but one for people who have trouble at the gates. This usually only takes abut 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the lline.)

For some reason, I don't have a problem in any other country nor at any other airport in the UK.

that will be the next bad news report - the e-gates aren't reliable or fast enough after millions were invested in the system. And don't ask what became of the money invested in the iris recognition system......

You should try using the e-passport booth at Sofia airport, now that is slow!
