I have received promotional emails today from both British Airways and American Airlines advertising low transatlantic rates for 2021. They begin as early as winter 2021 and extends through August. I live near Dallas so a round trip fare on either of them amounts to $750 round trip. The fares come with a guarantee that one can change without an additional charge if needed. This sounds very tempting for a trip as early as April, 2021 which I have in mind but I am still very hesitant to book it even with the assurances they offer. I was just wondering what others may think about planning ahead and buying airfare at a good price with the hope that we can travel from the US to the UK by spring.
Change with no fee, but not a refund. If I lived near a gateway airport, I'd be tempted. But I think I'd wait. Who knows the financial situation of all these potentially bankrupt airlines. Maybe a better deal around the corner, or that may become the normal price.
We started our search a few months ago for next summer. Saw Seattle to Edinburgh for around $850. When we called and were finally able to connect with someone but were told that fare was no longer available and that the information was being updated. Probably while we were on hold. We thought the restrictions were a bit dodgy. We willcontinue to look.
