British air pilot strike

Hello, we booked a round trip to heathrow Aug 27, returning September 10. Got an email yesterday from BA that a pilot strike has cancelled our return. We booked with Priceline, and so far, they know nothing and say they have been unable to contact the code share owner of the ticket, American Airlines. The AA site still shows our ticket to be valid. We are worried about commencing travel next Tuesday, because we are afraid of getting stuck over there. Soon we have to start cancelling hotels and tours, etc. Any advice or experience about how this is likely to go down? Appreciate any help.

I got an email telling me my flight on Sep.9 was cancelled. I booked directly with BA. I went into "Manage My Bookings" with my six leter/number locator number and was able to rebook without a problem.

One of the downfalls of booking with a third party is when there is a problem.

Have you tried calling BA? Do you have a six letter locator?

You will have a ticket issued by AA (on 001- stock) via a travel agent. As such you need to get Priceline to rebook you. Unfortunately AA has not yet issued a "Travel Notice Exception Policy" to cover this, possibly because the cancellations only started to happen overnight UK time Friday-Saturday.

BA for people holding 125- stock tickets (ie those they have sold directly or indirectly) from them have already issued rebooking waivers & advice to travel agents, and direct bookers can do it themselves although there is a long delay for phone assistance.

There was no need to call BA to change flights. If you know how to log into your flights on "Manage My Booking" you should be able to pick another flight. That's what I did.

Thanks to all who responded. In our situation, the ticket was “owned “ as I was told, by the code share, American Airlines. So the BA website was no use to me. I was told to deal with original booking agent, Priceline. Priceline, over numerous calls for almost 24 hours, insisted they could not reach AA, and could do nothing to help me until they did. A couple of calls to AA I was told to deal with Priceline. Finally, this afternoon I again called AA and insisted on speaking with a supervisor. Bingo. She rebooked in 2 seconds on a different return the same day. Lessons learned: 1. Book directly with the airline. 2. Always speak with a supervisor and be insistent.
