Brit Rail Pass reservations questions

We are traveling from London to Bath on a Sunday morning, Bath to Burford on a Sunday afternoon, Burford to Cardiff on a Monday midday, Cardiff to Windermere on a Tuesday middayand Windermere to Edinburgh on a Thursday morning. I realize that there will be some taxis and buses throughout, but my question is about the train reservations.

We purchased Brit Rail passes, and they offer for a minimal fee for you to make reservations (which are about $10 each). If there is even a question that there wouldn't be enough room on the exact train I want, I would want to make a reservation. If I only need to make some reservations, then I want to do that. I have heard that you can make reservations for free (is this true??) at a train station once you get into the country. Is that too late to ensure a spot? Do I only need reservations for some? I would like for both of us to sit together facing front wards.

And, how early should I plan to get to each of these stations to ensure we don't miss our train?

Are all these trains during one week? If so, you don't want to be going to Bath to get to Burford. And everything else would be great rush. But maybe you it's over more than a week.

As regards train reservations yes you can make them for free by yourself.

Create a free account with GWR (Great Western Railway) then make as many reservations as you wish for any reservable train in the country.
I have been doing that all week, some as little as 30 minutes before travel.
