Do you have any information about visiting Bristol from London?
Bristol is easy to get to by train from London but not usually a top choice for tourists. Nearby Bath is much more popular
Is there any particular reason why you want to visit Bristol?
Easy train trip from Paddington. Trains come into Bristol Temple Meads, which is a little out of the city centre but there’s a waterfront walk and I think there’s even a little ferry into the city now.
It’s a big city, multi-ethnic, arty and studenty. It’s full of interesting sights and history but needs a bit of navigation. Lots of waterfront sights such as the excellent SS Great Britain. Clifton Suspension Bridge is another biggie, probably best catching a bus there.
Whilst it’s true that Bristol is not hugely popular with tourists and Bath is more popular, especially with International visitors, I believe Bristol is the more interesting option overall.
My wife and I will generally schedule a week in Bristol whenever we're in the UK. Lots to do, great food, avoids touristy.
I live in Bristol and have done for a long time. It’s an extremely popular place to live with corresponding high house prices and property shortages but it’s not commonly on the tourist radar. I think it’s a great city to explore with lots of waterways and an interesting history as a major port city (the commercial docks are now way out of the city centre).
