Bridlington

I recently saw an article about English beach towns, and there was high praise about Bridlington. Is it authenticly revitalized or more 'remodeled'? The article seemed generated by a tourism board. I am wondering if it is it a worthwhile day trip while visiting in May? If not, what coastal towns might you recommend instead (easy to get to without a vehicle)?

Day trip from where? It must be a couple hours from York.

It's sure not a dump. The old town is good. I'm not quite sure what your descriptive term mean. I'd say it looks a few hundred years old and well-kept. There's not much of the carnival atmosphere/appearance of Brighton and its pier if that's what you're looking for. The beach itself is, well, a British beach - - coarse sand, not much foreshore, etc - - but I'm kind of spoiled.
