Booking The Hub ( a Premier Inn hotel) in London and pricing

I had really wanted to stay at The Hub at Covent Garden as I stayed there two years ago and it met my criteria perfectly. (Recommended by a friend here in Canada). While it was not inexpensive I was happy to pay around $ $300. Can. funds for two nights .
I just checked now on Trip Advisor and the price was about $425. but when I tried booking the price was 351 pounds so over $600. Canadian.
It’s shockng to me that the price would have doubled in two years !!
Any information or other recommendations would be much appreciated. I really liked tgis Hub for it’s location and while very small, it was almost new, very clean and I felt quite safe for a traveller on my own. They were also vety helpful, the assistant manager even taking my suitcases and walking me to the Leicester Square tube station.

You've posted two variations of the same question. My suggestion is to amend the other one--since I've answered it--and delete this one.

I have answered your other post.

The Hubs were a new concept a couple of years ago and were therefore priced cheaply. I just picked a random 2 nights on a weekend in June for the Hub Covent Garden and I am seeing a price of £282 total. Looking at a few other 2 night options in June, some are slightly more expensive.

Sorry, but your budget of 2 years ago of £85 per night is far too low for a quality B&B in London at relatively short notice ie less than 2 months away. You should be able to pick up a hotel around Lancaster Gate or further out for that price - try Booking.com.

I would expect to pay £100-120 per night for a nice B&B in a pretty town outside London.

Thank for your replies. As per suggestions I gave up on the B and B idea as such a few and far out from Central London. and found Vincent House London Residence, highly rated and a total of $367. ( 217 poinds) for two nights
as a special rate on Booking.com.

I think you will be pleased with the Vincent House, as long as you don't expect/need air conditioning. I've stayed there twice for a total of over 20 nights and have had no complaints. The breakfast offers a lot of variety, and there is sometimes something special (once bagels and smoked salmon), so take a good look around before filling your plate. The orange juice, though not fresh-squeezed, is legit. I believe they offer a good deal on dinner, but I haven't tried it because I try to eat my main meal at lunchtime.

For others who may be interested, I think the room rate can be a bit lower if you're staying at least a week--but I haven't checked rates since last year. I suspect most rooms are singles.

Yes, I too stayed in the Hub at Covent Garden about 18 months ago and really liked it — and now the word is obviously out and prices have skyrocketed.

This past weekend I stayed at the Hub at Spitalfields. It was nowhere near as convenient as the Covent Garden location, and the neighborhood would not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I quite liked it. I don’t know if I’ll pick it again though. But I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford the Covent Garden hub again!!! (There are definitely other locations in between the high and low extremes of these two!)

I am staying at the Hub Goodage Street near the British Museum in July. think it worked out to an average of $120 Canadian a night. I did book a while ago. I decided against the Covent Garden location based on the cost difference.

Wendy, I hope you enjoy hub Goodge St!
I stayed there in January for the first time (previously stayed multiple times in both Westminster hubs) and thought the location excellent -- very central, walkable to West End theatres, British Museum, British Library, multiple tube lines, and KX/St Pancras stations, and more. Would have booked Goodge St again for my trip next month except the prices were higher than I wanted to pay but it's definitely my favorite hub location.

I’m another who has been priced out of Hub Covent Garden as much as I loved the location, the rates are getting to be simply too high for what you get. I’ve stayed at Hub Westminster Abbey and it was fine. There’s actually two Hubs in that area. It’s not particularly convenient for nightlife if that’s a concern. The pubs around there tend to close early.

A similar chain is Z Hotel, I like them slightly better than Hub as you get an in room kettle as well as cable tv. Obviously, we don’t go to London to watch TV, but it’s nice to have if you wake up in the middle of the night with jet lag and can’t get back to sleep. I’m trying the Z Hotel Tottenham Court Road this trip as I really like the location. I’ll report back on how it is.

I’ve previously stayed at Z Hotels in Shoreditch and Liverpool and quite liked them.
