Booking accommodations with Expedia in London

Hi all, Travelling to London in May for 5 nights. Since booking so late everything is very pricey! Are there any issues booking with Expedia for London hotels/etc. Last couple of hotel stays in Canada, I got a bit of "attitude" because I didn't book through the hotel. Thanks in advance.

Whilst you could book through Expedia I can't see any advantage in doing so. I doubt you will save much money and you're just putting a third party between you and your booking should there be any issues. London hotels are expensive I'm afraid.

One negative possibility is that you might be assigned a small or very out-of-the-way room, or near an ice machine, say. If you didn't book directly, you will have zero leverage to get a different room. I should note that there are lots of older hotels in London, where not all rooms are identical.

In fairness, I should say this has happened to me also when I booked the absolute rock-bottom price, even directly. And if it's as busy as you say, there's no way to "buy up" at the check-in, even if you can afford it.

There won’t be any issues booking with Expedia. I always go with the best price so check the hotel’s own website as sometimes there are special deals available.

I don’t think there will be problems with Expedia. However, you may also want to price compare with premier Inns for the same dates as I don’t think they show up on that search engine.

If you do use Expedia, see if you can leverage its value by using a travel portal through a credit card. For example, if I book through Chase travel portal it uses the Expedia search engine but my points are worth 1.5 times cash value. Other cards, like Capital One, may also offer some savings.

Check the Premier Inn website for London.

See if there is availability at any of these PI’s.
Victoria
Blackfriars
County Hall
Farringdon
Bank/Tower
Aldgate

Check 63 Bayswater or Vancouver Studio
Apartments

It’s London. It’s never cheap.

In my opinion and experience over the years, I use the booking sites to see prices, locations and reviews then contact the hotel directly. Again, just my opinion, but you get a much better value for your stay if you book directly and just might have a nicer room.
