Booking a Taxi Service in Port Isaac Area

My little senior citizen group is planning to visit Port Isaac from Penzance. Once in Bodmin Parkway, we plan to take a taxi to Port Isaac. Now, some members of the group are interested in going to Tintagel castle. I'm in communication with Annie's Taxi who says that the trip would be no problem, but would naturally want to know our timetable. Since I'm not sure of that yet, I was wondering how easy is it to find a taxi once in Bodmin Parkway and can they be found in Port Isaac to take you to Tintangel? Or would booking in advance be the best way all around?

There is a taxi rank straight outside Bodmin Parkway Station, used by at least 4 other companies apart from Annie's.

The reason Annie's Taxi needs to know your timetable is that they are a tiny two vehicle company who would need to fit you in round other contract commitments.

But on your way to Port Isaac, ten miles into the journey, you pass through the town of Wadebridge. Also between Port Isaac and Tintagel (although a taxi will sadly by pass it) is the town of Camelford. Wadebridge is another town which rewards exploration.

Both towns will also yield more and closer taxi companies than one based in Bodmin.

There are 5 companies in Camelford appear on a search of which only one has a website, the others work by 'phone-
Avida Taxis
Looking in Wadebridge there is also Midas Taxis, and at least three other companies.

This is a rural area- they will all have contract and school transport commitments so the general rule would be that advance booking is best- if using taxis rather than public transit.

Another possible side trip is Padstow- either from Wadebridge or the cross estuary ferry from the village of Rock (half way between Port Isaac and Wadebridge). You can make that a round trip with the 8 mile walk on the old railway trail along the estuary between Wadebridge and Padstow- the Camel Trail.

By the way Bodmin Parkway Station is about two miles outside the town. One fun thing to do, if you arrive on the right day and at the right time is to take the steam train on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway from Bodmin Parkway to Bodmin General Station in the Town Centre.
