Four lady friends are staying in Salisbury and want to see Stonehenge, Avebury, and Salisbury Cathedral/Magna Carta in one day. Is there a guided tour that covers all of these with ticket entrance fees, or should we find transportation on our own and do self guided tours of each of these places?
Love all of those places! I know of Stonehenge/Avebury tours that leave from London, and a quick google makes me think you might be able to find a tour for both standing stones locations, but you would perhaps need to pay to customize to add on the cathedral. My biggest advice would be to check the opening hours on the day you want to go. We did Avebury in the dead of winter, and it closed early that day due to limited daylight.
Stonehenge to Avebury is going to be close to an hour drive. Honestly, I significantly prefer Avebury and feel as you can really spend a lot of time there. Do all 3 attractions really need to be in one day?
We are planning a stay in Salisbury in September, with a primary interest in Stonehenge. There are several tour companies with almost identical names and almost identical web addresses. Some even have almost identical web content. It isn’t always clear or certain which one a particular review applies to. One claims numerous travel awards which I can’t find confirmation of.

English Heritage is the organisation that looks after Stonehenge

Other webistes are commercial opeators that will organise a tour for you.
If you're staying in Salisbury just take a bus - details on the Plan Your Visit section
Salisbury Cathedral have several tours which they do themselves (see their website for details). Any other tour is going to be inferior to those, and not be able to access the same areas.
@Jim....here are my thoughts on the tour companies you have listed:
Stonehenge Tour Experts stonehengetours.com
This is a day tour company that run tours from London and Bristol. It bothers me that in the About US section they do not say who their guides are or what their qualifications are. They say they have been in business a long time.
The Stonehenge Tour thestonehengetour.info
This is the link to the shuttle bus run by the local company the Salisbury Reds from the City Center and Train station in Salisbury out to Stonehenge and back by Old Sarum. I've used them a number of times. No need to book ahead, buy your tickets from the driver. Excellent service.

This one comes up with a buy this domain link. If you have a better link I'm happy to look at it.
Stonehenge Tours stonehenge-tour.com
I'm not familiar with this company but they say they concentrate only on Stonehenge and are a "local" company.
The Stonehenge Travel Company stonehengetravel.co.uk
Also says they are local to Salisbury and have been in business a long time.

This is the one I would recommend which I don't think you have listed. (It has an "s" on the tour and a hyphen in the name...good grief!) The owner of the company is Pat Shelley who is an expert on Stonehenge and is amazing. I wound up doing a walking tour of Salisbury with the Tourist Office long ago and he was pinch hitting for the regular guide. He was awesome and I would pick him to guide me anywhere!
Thank you so much!
