Book of Mormon

Hi everyone,

I am visiting London in August, and am wanting to see Book of Mormon. I have looked on their website and it states they are "now selling tickets through June 28". Does anyone know if this means the show is ending June 28, or if they will just open ticket sales for June 29 and later at a later time? Seems strange they don't have tickets available 4 months out - but maybe that's normal?

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Emily,
First off, you have fabulous taste in musicals; the BOM is easily the most hysterical show in town but it's not for everyone. ;)
I know the run was extended into the summer, and TimeOut had tickets for sale into June while the official website was still showing only through May. I haven't heard anything about late summer, but I go by the box office at least once a week trying to win the lottery tickets. If no one else answers by next week, I can check again and let you know what they tell me.
And if it is ending before you get here, then hasa diga eebowai!

It usually means the production's lease with the theater might be expiring soon, and are not sure if they will renew, move to a different location, or even close production. The theater they are currently is (Prince of Whales) is one of the largest in the West End, so if attendance is down they may be looking to move into a more smaller location for economic reasons.

If you go to the Delfont Mackintosh Theater website (they run the Official Box Office), they show booking through August 23rd.

.
I saw the website that you noted, so I went to http://theatremonkey.com/ to see what they said. Theatremonkey is a great website for information on theatre in London, including seating recommendations and info about purchasing tickets. On the theatremonkey site for the Prince of Wales theatre, they have they have a link to the page that I think you saw. It states June 28th. However, if you scroll Down to the section that says "Theatre Box Office", the have the link to the Delfont Mackintosh site and that site lets you book through August 23rd. I saw this show in London last year and booked through Delfont Mackintosh site with no issues.

I hope you can get tickets. This show is freakin' hilarious! What a cool experience to hear it performed by actors with British accents!

"Now selling tickets through xxxxxxx" means no more than it says. Management sells tickets in time blocks, lending a hurry-up element to the sales pitch. Theatre is an important industry in London and long-running shows are usually (not always) resident companies which will keep the lights on as long as they are turning a profit.

I did book our tickets! Thank you! We cannot WAIT to see it!

BOM came to Dallas last fall, and somehow even though my husband and I were dying to see it, we didn't find out it was in town until it's last weekend and tickets were sold out, and then on stubhub for a lot more money than we wanted to spend! Didn't know it was coming back in 2015 - thanks for sharing. And not going to Europe JUST to see a show.... Husband has a month sabbatical from work so doing as much traveling as we can squeeze in!

We just saw "The Book Of Mormon" in Hollywood, this week. It definitely is raunchy. My husband and I are 66 and 72. We didn't care for it at all. The language was beyond filthy. One scene shows the actors all have penis' sticking out of their costumes. We didn't think that was funny, it was plain disgusting.

Absolutely LOVED it (and I am what some might refer to as a 'mature' person)!! Saw it last September and will hopefully see it again this fall. You will have a fabulous time!

We were in London when Jersey Boys was all the rage. Someone who worked at the hotel we stayed in near Brands Hatch recommended it to us. Yes, they did do Jersey accents and sang the songs just like Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. We went to a matinee and most of the audience were a little long in the tooth just like us and remembered the group and its music. But we were probably among a very few Yanks there. We all sang along and danced in our seats. Good theatre is good theatre, no matter where you are, but I thought it was especially great in London.
