All tickets for Bodleian Library tours are sold out for the day we will be in Oxford, but their website says "Select tours go on sale one month in advance, with additional tours made available on the day." Anybody know if it's difficult to get tickets day of?

Some do come available on the day of - I got my 90 minute tour in November for same day on a Sunday. I went to the ticket office, stood in line, and got a tour for a couple of hours later.
That being said, I didn’t get there early to stand in line and I only got my ticket because I was a solo traveler and they had only one left. The couple in front of me didn’t get it because there were 2 of them. I specifically wanted the 90 min. full tour, but there seemed to be 60 min. tours available. But how difficult it is on a regular basis I don’t know - I guess you are going soon, so maybe not high season. It is totally worth trying for. Good luck!
