We are arriving at Heathrow shortly after noon and would like to know what is the easiest way to get to Windsor where we will be staying for a couple of nights.
A quick Google search brought up some sites with suggestions including this one. They recommend calling a Windsor cab company - a taxi is the most direct method and Windsor companies will be cheaper than the London black cabs at the stand at airport, they say. A bus would be cheaper but take longer. This site echoes similar suggestions and gives a few more numbers for other local Windsor cab companies.
We took the local bus, leaving outside T5, for a few pounds each. It took 45 minutes. We heard that taxis cost 50 pounds, so did not attempt that. But that 16 pound one sounds pretty good.
We talked to the travel info booth at Heathrow, when we had a few hours between flights. We wanted to visit the Castle. They sent us on a bus to I think Slough, and then to Windsor on the train. It was an interesting way to get there, the station is downtown, but with luggage, a taxi might work better.
