one taxi said 120 dollars. Not sure if he meant pounds or AM $. What do you experienced travelers suggest.
CM
No taxi driver is going to accept US dollars. Taxi is quite possibly the most expensive method of traveling between London and Southampton. Either take the train or a National Express bus.
Do you mean that you want to travel from London to Southampton to meet somebody off the boat? Or that you want to go to the boat and get on?
Nigel, according to previous threads she needs to get on the ship in Southampton tomorrow.
Some previous advice on taking a train was given here:
A couple of years ago we paid 110 GBP (not dollars) for a taxi from Gatwick to our Southampton hotel. If you don't want to do the expensive taxi transfer, take the train or Nat. Express bus, or see if Cunard offers a transfer. for a price, to the ship.
Thanks, Kathy....
Reading back through that one I remember. I thought everything was settled on the train from Waterloo to Southampton Central and then onwards to the dock by taxi.....
4 times an hour taking between 74 and 93 minutes. A walk-up Off Peak Day Single £40.40 for the train part.
You're welcome, Nigel. I thought it had been settled too!
I don't have enuf time to read thru the previous threads just now. But just in case anyone cares...A call to Cunard and 50 pounds will get you a seat on a bus from the Victoria coach station to the dock at Southhmapton.
Consider the OP's other questions, I don't think we've ever had anyone do less research prior to a trip than this one. Not even the basics.
Couldn't agree more Frank. I refrained from posting on some of the other questions as I knew my replies wouldn't be as erudite as I would like.
Thank you all for your time and patience and helping me with this trip I do appreciate it. Their was difficulty why i wasnt able to research in all the possibilities because we had a Hurricane in Florida and we had to leave our house , so I lost about 3 weeks before coming on the trip and I was going to do all that planning at that time but we had the hurricane in South Florida . so things get confused . I apologize for not doing all my research . thanks for helping me it was really great pleasure and help . next time I'll promise to do better. Best regards CM
I'm glad it all worked out for you, Charlotte.
Did you wind up on the train, or the bus, or in a taxi? How was it?
