Best Way to Get to Natural History Museum

Hi, All-
Mom and I are meeting some friends at the Natural History Museum tomorrow. With the prediction for rain and wind, we are trying to do as little walking outside as possible. When I planned out a possible route, it looks like we can walk from our airbnb (Kew Bridge Road) to Gunnersbury Station, change at Hammersmith, then get off at South Kensington. However, it looks like Gunnersbury Station is about a 15 minute walk- normally not an issue, but thinking of the weather.

We are literally steps from Kew Bridge Train Station, but I can’t work out whether I can take this to another overground station near the museum (Cromwell Road).

Thanks in advance for any advice!

65 bus to South Ealing, then Piccadilly Line to South Kensington.

Or take a bus to Gunnersbury (237/267).

Kew Bridge station is on the Hounslow Loop Line and is not much use for this journey.

I've not walked directly to the Natural History Museum from the Underground, but I know you can get to the V&A through an underground tunnel and completely avoid going outdoors. I think the signage in the Underground station just points to "Museums", so I assume that will work for the Natural History Museum as well. Ask one of the Underground staffers in the station to be sure.

The Natural History Museum is served by the subway from the tube station, but you still need to walk across the museum courtyard to get to the entrance.

I agree the walk above ground is nicer but if the weather isn't cooperating, take the underground passage. I've done both.
