What they said. ^

I do it every time I go to London for work or vacation. Don't get stuck in surface traffic, which can be very bad and time consuming. Don't pay the ridiculously high price for a walk up ticket on the Express. Also, the people watching is fantastic. :-)

thanks for the tips everyone. Going to use the Tube then instead of the Express!

Split the difference time and money wise and take the Heathrow Connection to Paddington.

Actually, depending on where you are going in Belgravia, you might do well with the National Express Coach. This goes to the Victoria Coach Station which is a block or so away from the Victoria Underground/train station. On the advice from friends here last time I did this from Heathrow and it worked really well. Bag went under the bus, I sat in comfort, then walked 1/2 a block from the coach station to my hotel.

Pam, thanks for this tip. We are staying at the Lime Tree Hotel near the Victoria Coach station. Mid-September after our RS 8 Days Heart of Ireland tour ends. We fly to London from Dublin. We are going to purchase our tickets in advance.

Thank you everyone! Pam I need to do more research. How is the National express coach price?

Judy B, yes, The Lime Tree is where I stay and it is literally 1/2 a block away. Just go out the front door of the Coach station, turn right and go to the corner then right again and it's the 2nd door. Ebury Wine Bar is the first door, hahaha!!

I've done the Piccadilly line/change to Circle-District at Hammersmith before to Victoria Station and it's fine ..... UNTIL....you get to Victoria Station where it seems like there is always a crush of people entering and leaving the station, steps (not many) to negotiate and more people on the sidewalk (pavement, I think?) as you walk toward Ebury Street. I suspect the coach is slightly longer but so much less having to manage your suitcase thru a bunch of people.

Emma's given you the link to the coaches and if I recall it was around 5GBP. I don't think this is covered by the Oyster Card. It is slightly chaotic as the coaches pull into the parking slots but there are many people around to ask if you are not sure if it is your coach. The drivers seem to be very helpful as well.

As indicated though, it really depends on where you are headed in Belgravia as to whether this will be easier for you. There is, however, a taxi rank out the door to the coach station and to the left.
