Best way to get from City Airport to Heathrow?

I have booked a flight to Delhi with stop at London...To my surprise i have to change airports.

I land at 4.25pm at City airport, have to get through passport control, luggage and then make my way within 1 hour and a half. I have to check luggage at Heathrow Terminal 5. I have no idea if this is duable. If something goes wrong with public transport i would be left without my flight to India.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you saying that your flight leaves Heathrow 1.5 hours after your first flight lands at London City? If so, it is not possible to make the flight.

I land at 4.30pm and once i get my luggage, is it possible to reach Terminal 5 in 1 hour and a half? I will have to check in my luggage for the next flight between 6..30pm-7.30pm since plane takes off at 8.30 and since its an international flight i think they close departure gate half an hour before take off?

If you go via the Heathrow Express at Paddington you can do it in about 1:05 hours min. Via underground / DLR only it takes 1:30. In each case there will be initial waiting time for the first DLR at LCY.

The legal minimum connection time for BA on a single ticket is 3.5 hours - you have 35 minutes over this. What is in your favour is that baggage collection is swift at LCY.

Checking the Transit for London website, it can take anywhere from 1 and a half hours to 3 hours to get from London City Airport to Heathrow Terminal 5 depending on the time of day and which combination of transit options you choose. The fastest is using the Tube to get to Paddington Station and then taking the Heathrow express. I would avoid surface transit (bus, taxi or similar) at all costs due to the possibilities of traffic congestion.

As far as when the flight closes, don't guess, ask your airline. Some can close as early as 1 hour before departure and even earlier for checking luggage.

Good luck.

Change your booking. 90 minutes from landing to take-off time is just not practical for any pair of airports in London. If somebody sold you those tickets as a through journey, you have serious cause for complaint.
