I'm traveling with my grandson from Heathrow to Kings College, Stamford st. apartments. We arrive at 10:30 AM, Sunday, July 21st and need to be at lodging registration by 2:00 PM. What are the best options for getting to the college apartments? ...bus / train / etc.? It looks like Blackfriar station is the closest to our destination. Is the train station in or near the Heathrow air terminal 2 or is there a connection to it? If I take the train should I get tickets in advance (not my preference) or can I buy the train tickets on site? Are there discounts (for train) for seniors. ? Or should we take an Uber?
Emma,
thanks for the info. Easiest is more important than cheapest or fastest, but fastest might matter if it takes more than 2 hrs to get to Stamford St. from Heathrow. The connections you described sound complicated since I am not familiar with the public transport / local tube system. But, I'll check it out on your recommended site TFL.gov.
As mentioned by Emma, if you choose to use a minicab, I’ve had very good luck with Blackberry Cars over the years. Reliable drivers, newish well maintained vehicles, and excellent customer service. The price they quote is the price you pay, no surge pricing. Here is a link showing your journey £40 for a saloon car Blackberry. I’ve recommended to others and they have been pleased as well. Have a great time settling in your grandson!
