we are in cotswolds in may, staying in bourton on the water and chipping camden. what pubs do you recommend in that area. thanks, nicholas barthel
Do you have a car?
The Cotswolds (never just Cotswolds) covers 800 square miles. Are you just interested in walking distance?
The Ebrington Arms in Ebrington, 2 miles from Chipping Camden.
We stayed in the Volunteer Inn at Chipping Campden and used it as a base to see nearby places. The small hotel has a great Pub as well as an excellent Indian Restaurant.
If you stay outside of the town, you will have to drive to get to any restaurants or places to see. You don't want to do that after drinking.

The drink/drive law is very strict in England and enforced.
My opinion is that with rare exceptions the best pub is the nearest to where you are, if you intend to drink.
You don't give your criteria for "best". It could be best food, best beer, best Real Ale, best music, best cider, best view, best setting, best for gardens.
Most won't combine all those.

Is that in response to the advice about not drinking and driving?!!!!!
