Betsy, which hotel are you staying at? I don't have a pasta recommendation, but have you been to Grumbles? I love their fish pie.

They are in the Victoria Park Plaza hotel but have their own entrance on Gillingham street.
It is not particularly 'traditional italian', not a lot of red sauce etc, and it is not the cheapest but the food is delicious.
