We have 5 days coming up for a special retirement / anniversary trip
and would like to take a Beatles Tour from Paddington Station which is
adjacent to our hotel. Any suggestions?

Trains do not go to Liverpool from Paddington Station. (Paddington Station is served by the Great Western Railway = places west of London such as Bath, Bristol, south Wales, the SW peninsula (Devon & Cornwall), Hereford.

Liverpool is served by Virgin trains from London (Euston). You can find the schedules & fares here:> www.nationalrail.co.uk
I would avoid Fridays (trains busy = higher fares) & Sundays (engineering works can disrupt journeys). Pay on the day can be expensive. Best to pre-book specific trains about 11 weeks in advance of travel. Make your bookings at https://www.virgintrains.co.uk
using your debit card.

If you click this link, you should be able to see a video that someone has uploaded of Euston Station & Virgin Trains.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoaDVcmFxt8

You cannot get a train to Liverpool from Paddington. Trains to Liverpool go from London Euston station. You will need to get the tube to Euston.
Trains can only go where there are tracks. Each station serves specific destinations. The tracks from Paddington lead west, those from Euston go to north-west England.

Once you get to Liverpool, there are many different companies that offer bus tours of Beatles sites. The best one I took is offered by the National Trust and is a tour of the interiors of the boyhood homes of Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Other tours just drive by these sites--the National Trust takes you inside for a guided tour. If you want to go on this one, book early because sets are limited and it is very popular.

It is technically possible to get to Liverpool from Paddington via Oxford and Birmingham. Would be a rather odd choice though.

Once in Liverpool and after you Ferry cross the Mersey take the Pool of Life tour as he hits John and Paul's house but also you see George and Ringo's houses (can't go in) perhaps the highlight is meeting Rory Best tells stories from the early days (Pete Best's brother) at the Casbah a club that their mother owned where the Beatles played regularly, see the school where John and Paul first met and the graveyard where Elenor Rigby's tomb is located near the school, plus other sights. It was well worth the $$ as it is a small van and so limited people and able to go to out of the way places. The Beatles museum down at the docks was interesting, their is a lot of things other than Beatles to keep you occupied in Liverpool.
