What area should I look at for accommodations close to Heathrow with easy buses or tube to Terminal 3?
An area I've been looking at is Virgina Water. Windsor Great Park. It looks beautiful and we might have access to bikes to tour around. But I'm not sure how far to bus or train or Uber it would take. We do not have a car.
Thanks
Are you looking for an overnight stay ahead of a flight early the following day? Or somewhere to base yourself to see London sights and get easily to and from T3?
There are many hotels clustered around the bath road area. Have a look at something like booking, com. Then use the TFL website, Google maps, Citymapper to see your transit optiions. Or take a taxi/Uber.
Have you decided not to stay at one of the terminal hotels?

I haven't decided where to stay. I've been looking at Airbnb mostly. I'm just trying to figure out easy access.
We end up with two nights before our mid day flight. We would have a day to explore. So, I've wondered about Windsor or along the Thames. Just not sure. But most important is a easy bus..uber or tube into Heathrow.
With two nights you could easily stay somewhere along the Piccadilly line to the west of central London, say Earl’s Court or Kensington. That would allow you east access to anywhere in central London for your spare day and quick tube access to/from LHR. Or Windsor would also work if that has enough to interest you for a day. With a midday departure there is absolute o need to stay very close to LHR.
with sufficient planning to get a cheap ticket you could base close to Paddington station in central London, convenient for the London sights and other things near and nearish to Paddington, and just 15 minutes by train - Heathrow Express - to the T2/T3 stop. All under cover from Paddington to T2/T3.
That is further but faster than anything in Windsor or even nearby airport hotels.
There’s also the Elizabeth line into central London. Sounds like easy step free access at the stations. So should be easy access with luggage. Cheapest fare involves a bus from heathrow to Hayes and Harlington (and possibly other stations) then onto the train. Not sure how much you save but something to consider if you’re on a tight budget
I guess i should have stated we don't really want to stay IN London. We've been there, done that. I was looking for quiet, parks, maybe do some bike rides or walks. We want a country place with more of a direct, easy way into Heathrow. Never been in Heathrow and it's pretty daunting to me! I've read that you need to allow 3 hours to get through everything there. I'm nervous, until I'm sitting in a seat at the gate and know we've done check in, security, and are ready to board. So, I always allow lots of time and it helps reduce my stress. So, any places away from London ideas ?
Richmond. 45 minute bus ride to the Richmond Quadrant. Premier Inn on Lower Mortlake is 20 minute walk from there.
From the Premiere Inn it’s 10 minutes on foot to Kew Gardens. To the massive Richmond Park its a nice 30 minute walk to the Kings Ride Entrance adjacent to the East Sheen Cemetary. Follow the lovely path into the park.
Adjacent to the PI is the Crown pub. Not a gastro pub. At least it wasn’t in 2022.
1/2 block away across the street is the Richmond Local Convenience Store. Its where you can get bottled water and snacks. Next door is the Heisenberg Breakfast Company. Not too expensive and if you’re a fan of Breaking Bad you’ll find it amusing.
Claudia's answer is a wonderful response to Shelley. It fit's her requirements brilliantly. The bus 65 from South Ealing (Piccadilly line station for Heathrow) takes you to within 2 minutes walk of the PI.
I'd have been thinking of a couple of other places on the X26 bus route with that specification, but I can't improve on this.
Shelley's original thought of Windsor was fine as there is the fast Green Line 703 bus from Windsor (which is almost a 24 hour service), currently being re-equipped with smart new buses, but I think this is far better.
In answer to @ Rocket above a change to bus at Hayes and Harlington, or West Ealing would save you about £7.50 on the through Elizabeth line fare to LHR off peak (a bit less peak), even more on a senior railcard. It's easy enough.
There are an amazing array of tube stations in outer London on both sides of the Thames with direct bus access to Heathrow, which could be done as overnight stops before a flight. An unknown resource to most visitors.
Thanks Everyone. I booked a place around Egham today. It says there is a train to Felham and then bus into Heathrow. I think we will just allow lots of time to be sure we are finding our gates with time to spare. Thanks all. Much appreciated your taking the time to help me.
But we are fans of Breaking Bad... might have to check out where that Breakfast place is. :) Thanks so much!
Richmond is nice . Get a bus and enjoy the views.
