We'll be in London in July. Which day of the week would you suggest we book our Evans and Evans tour to Stonehenge, Windsor and Bath?
Thank you!
I would strongly recommend that you nowhere near this tour unless you have a particular interest in the UK road network as that's all you will see. You will be on a coach for the vast majority of the day.
What ever day works for you. I have no idea if it’s more crowded on weekends or holidays so look into that. I took the Evans tour and it was fine! The guide was a retired BBC commentator and historian. He was a hoot! Don’t let anyone talk you out of it if that is how you can get there, even if it’s a local. Many on this forum seem to do that as it’s not their cup of tea.
I’ve done several other tours there from London too because I went with different friends so they could see it.
In July it will not matter what day you go - crowded and popular sites will be busy everyday .
I’ve done bus tours to all of those sites - I preferred when I just took the train to Bath and spent the day there , but the tours are the easier way to get a TASTE of all three places
I enjoy the bus tours to get a taste of everything! I’m more of the mindset of seeing it then not seeing it all. Some people don’t have the time to spend a day at each place. I booked the same tour on a Monday April 3rd. Glad I did cause the rest of the week booked up fast. If u know what day works for you, I would book now!!
If interested in entering Windsor Castle you need to be sure you are not going on a day when it is closed in full or partially - Tue, Wed, Sun (St George' Chapel) . Plus some other days depending on state functions etc.
Check to see if you're going near any holidays or other events where the king may be in residence, since that can limit what you can see at Windsor (we had initially planned to go on Good Friday years ago but went Thursday instead because the apartments would have been closed Friday).
We did the Evan Evans tour to Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath and really enjoyed it! The tour guide was great and we had a lot of time in each area. Coming back to London we had to drive through Richmond due to traffic but it was interesting seeing the area - and we even got dropped right in front of our place since the alternate route drove down that road :D.
(I had taken a similar tour years earlier with Premium Tours and do not recommend them at all, disorganized, did the tour opposite of what was scheduled, barely any time in Bath but managed to squeeze an hour in at a tourist trap "pub" with barely passable expensive food)
In October we took 2 Evans and Evans tours. We felt that there was not enough time allotted to Windsor Castle and Bath. Despite having tickets and being part of a tour we still had to wait for awhile in line at Windsor Castle. On the advice of our guide we went to St Georges Chapel to see the Queen's grave where we had to wait 45 min to see it. Needless to say, there was less than 15 minutes to literally sprint through the inside of the Castle. In Bath there is plenty of time to go through the Roman Baths and read everything if you like to do that. If you do that, you will not have enough time to explore the town. As far as Stonehenge goes ,there is enough time to see it but not enough time to go into the visitor's center. As others have mentioned in this forum, if you are staying in London and have the time it may be better to take the train ( if they're not on strike! ) to Windsor and Bath as separate day trips and see them on your own. I wish I knew that before I booked the tour.
As far as the other Evans and Evans tour we took, it was to the Cotswolds. This tour left over 90 minutes later than it should have. We were promised that we would have all the time we were supposed but we were lied to.
I can't imagine trying to do all three places in one day, it must be a very long day.
I can see doing Stonehenge and Windsor Castle in one day, but Bath is more distant and deserved a full day to explore.
Looking at their website it is an 11 hour day, leaving Victoria Coach Station at 7.30am
