Best area to stay in December for four days, flying into Heathrow, out of Gatwick

Hello. My spouse and I will be in London in December the beginning of the month for four days. We'll be flying into Heathrow and out of Gatwick, flying to Spain. Recommendations as to the best area to stay in please, or hotels/B&B? Last year we stayed in the Kensington area which was convenient to get to from Heathrow. I realize Gatwick is south of the city though. Our flight leaves Gatwick at 9:35 in the morning on the 9th. I have tentative reservations at the hotel K&K George. Ideas please? Thanks.

I would probably stay in the Victoria area. Trains to Gatwick leave from there. There are many hotels in the area.

I always book a hotel or B&B near a metro station for easy travel to where I want to go.
Jesmond Dene is very close to Kings Cross ( trains, metro, buses......) just a couple block away.

The "metro" in London is a free newspaper, I think you're referring to the underground (aka the tube).

The hotel you have chosen is convenient for both airports.

By public transport from LHR you can take the tube to Earls Court station and walk to your hotel.

From Earls Court you would take the tube to Victoria then a train to Gatwick. You should be at Gatwick 7.00 - 7.30am for your flight.
