Best area in London to stay for only 2 nights

Hello-

I have a lay over in London for 2 days before continuing on to Barcelona. I've never been to London before, and need it to be fairly easy to get to and from Heathrow airport. Where is the best area for cute cafes and a traditional London feel?

Thank you for any suggestions!

We always stay in the Victoria Station area. Lots of pubs and restaurants in the area. You can easily walk to central London and about an hour to the airport via the tube.

When you look for a hotel, see if it is close to a Piccadilly Line or Elizabeth line station. These are the lines that go directly to Heathrow without having to change trains.

Some will tell you to take the Heathrow Express. It goes to Paddington just like the Elizabeth Line. To get low priced tickets, you have to purchase them months in advance. No need to purchase anything in advance for the other lines. The Elizabeth line takes 15 minutes longer to get to Paddington.

Heathrow is west of London so you probably don't want to go too far east.

Connectivity is so good it really doesn't matter too much.

You could hug the Piccadilly line or the Elizabeth line but both can be easily reached by one change from most places.

Don't let one thing (the trip to the airport) dictate the two days - you might find somewhere that saves you ten minutes on the airport run then be a pain for all the other things you want to do.

A good plan is to identify the best place for the things you want to do - getting to the airport is just one of those.
