Premier Inn is a budget friendly hotel. The link is to the hotel that is connected to Terminal 4. (Or you could Google Premier Inn near Heathrow) There is also a Premier Inn located on Bath Road. I have stayed at a few Premier Inns, but not those two. All the ones I have stayed at were fine, with comfy beds.

I stayed at the Park Inn Radison near the airport and it was nice. Room was a good size and there was a restaurant in the hotel was nice. They have a shuttle to the airport which was a couple pounds. My friends on the same trip stayed at the Ibis near the airport and had no complaints about it.

I used the Premier Inn near Terminal 4 last September. The place was fairly new; perhaps that's why the rate was so low--under 50 GBP for a single. I was very comfortable there. It's perhaps a 10-minute walk to the terminal through a sort of semi-enclosed walkway, by which I mean you won't get wet but will probabably have some idea how cold or hot it is outdoors. Signage wasn't great as of September. I think I ended up initially following signs to a Hilton or something like that. Eventually signage for the Premier Inn began to appear.

Best OR cheapest? The two criteria can't often be found together. I have always had a pleasant enough experience with Premier Inn. Very clean, good, comfy beds, perfectly acceptable amenities and absolutely fine for an overnight stay prior to a flight. A better experience would be at the Sofitel but of course that costs significantly more than the Premier Inn.

While Premier Inns are very nice and reasonably inexpensive, but even inexpensive at Heathrow can be quite a pile of money.

I don't know what the names would be or how nice they would be but I am certain that a much less expensive room could be found a few miles from the airport.

Nigel, I'm not the only person on the forum who stayed at the T4 Premier Inn last year for under 50 GBP. The hotel has been open longer at this point, so perhaps such good deals are no longer available; I haven't checked. But I doubt very much that one could beat that rate by much anywhere near Heathrow, and the cheapest alternatives wouldn't be providing free transportation, would they?

I just did a random check for one night next week for 2 adults in a double room at the T4 Premier Inn and the price is £46, which I doubt could be beaten.

We want to try the Premier Inn this coming summer. We have a long layover (overnight) at LHR on the way to Rome...do I have to use the tube to get to terminal 4 from terminal 3? I'm assuming that we're arriving from terminal 3.
