Big Ben

I am hoping to be online early tomorrow (here we go again 😊) to see if I can get tickets to the Big Ben tour that is starting back up in July. While drinking my morning coffee today, I just happened to think about looking into it again and was so glad I did! (One of my kids has a career in conservation so it’d be a wonderful thing for us!) The website says the tickets will be available through a link at 10:00 for the months of July through September. Thought I’d attach the link for anyone who may be interested in going. Best of luck in doing so!

Thank you so much! I will pass this link on to my husband (the only one of us who will be awake enough at 2 a.m. PDT to give this a try). He was hoping for a chance for a tour while we're there in July.

As of 1125, seem to have sold out.
Further tranches to be released 2nd Wednesday of each month, so 12 July next, for August.

Yes, they went quickly! I was up at 5:10 am (EST) and there was availability for most of the month of July, although some dates - Saturdays and Sundays of the month including the 1st and 2nd when we could have gone- were blocked as unavailable. I don’t know if they went in the 10 minutes before I got on or if they were never available to begin with. Oh well, maybe next time we visit!

I wanted to thank you for posting this message yesterday. I was excited to see they were allowing tours so I set my alarm! I am on the West Coast and I did get up at 1:55 am our time to be ready to log into the site. I was able to get 2 tickets for September. So yes, it was working, and yes, they did sell out in a matter of minutes.
Sorry you missed out but I promise to think of you while I am climbing all of those steps.

To anyone who gets tickets, make sure you check this site - https://www.parliament.uk/visiting/visiting-and-tours/big-ben-tour/getting-ready - before the tour, as there are some restrictions.

isn31c, did you mean that you can book in July for the October tours? You mentioned August but I wondered if that was a typo (or brain fart, as my 13 year old grandson would say). :)

And sadly, I will not be attempting this on my trip next year. The stairs would not be a problem but the height factor definitely would!

July 1 and 2 were gone immediately. Those were 2 of the 3 dates we had available and my husband was on at 2 a.m. sharp. Wasn't able to snag any for July 23 either--oh well. I realized later that all our dates were on weekends, so perhaps that affected things. He checked September out of curiosity, and there were still times available for that month after 20 minutes. We're looking at it as an incentive to stay in shape for our next trip--all those stairs....

This is exciting news, and I might try to go to London in late September...I will be curious to hear reports from those who go soon!

Mardee,

Yes it seems I meant October (only) to be released on 12 July. They have definitely changed the wording on the website during the day.
It said 2nd Wednesday of each month this morning, now it only mentions 12 July for October, no mention of after then.

But it now also says keep on checking for any returns for the first 3 months.

Just a reminder that October tickets are released tomorrow, Wednesday, morning.

EDIT- by 1125 all tickets were sold out.

November tickets are released at 9am on 9 August.

I THOUGHT I had set a reminder yesterday for me to remember to get up early this morning. I didn't.
And months ago, I set an alarm for 15 minutes before sale time this morning. I slept through that.

All is not lost, though... my son-in-law had it in his agenda for today. He lives in London so it was mid-morning for him, not pre-dawn for me..

He was able to get one admission for the final day of my visit in October, but it will not be the planned family outing we had hoped for.

So glad to see this happening again. I think we were the last tour groups before it got shut after 7/7. Such a fun and amazing tour and the tour guides that can run up and down the steps at 65 years old are my spirit animals.

I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did.
