Beatles Guide

Unfortunately I am not a huge fan of the Fab Four, so can't help you with a tour company, but I'd advise you not to ignore the other attractions of the city. We enjoyed it immensely. The Royal Albert Dock, the Mersey Ferry, the Museum of Liverpool and the Anglican Cathedral are all worth a visit.

My wife, who is a big Beatles fan, had no difficulty finding plenty of historical sites connected with the band without a guide. But I understand the desire for a knowledgeable guide; I'm sorry I can't help.

We were in Liverpool last year for 2 full days (3 nights) and did several Beatles activities. My favorite was the National Trust tour of John & Paul’s childhood homes. Hiring a guide to take you around wouldn’t help with that or really any of the other activities we did. It’s very possible to do it on your own.

You don't need a private guide to see the Beatles sites.
We were there in May

we stayed at the hard Days night hotel, next to Mathew Street where the Cavern Club and the Beatles Museum are located, which we both visited.

The best is the National trust McCartney and Lennon child hood homes.

We were in Liverpool for 4 days in May and took one of the Fab 4 Taxi tours (3 hr). We really enjoyed it and I feel like we definitely saw everything (and more). They will pick you up anywhere in the city (we were staying down my Albert Dock), but the Hard Days Night Hotel would have been a fun place to stay - more centrally located. Have fun!

Ha! Just seeing this. I was no help but will be in Liverpool mid October doing some of the suggestions listed here. I have my National Trust tour reserved and am buying a ticket to the Cavern Club on Friday night for some Beatles music.

Our daughter lives in Liverpool, not far from Penny Lane. If you like the Beatles, it is completely worth a walk up Penny Lane. A lot of community tributes. You will also pass Strawberry Fields and at the top of Penny Lane, at Allerton is a church with a great Lennon Statue. The 86 A or 80 buses will take you from Liverpool One Bus Station to the John Lennon Statue. Then you can walk down Penny Lane to the Fire Station (now apartments) across from the Tesco on Mather and Rose Lane (great market) and take the bus back to near the Cavern Club or Liverpool One. You can tap on with a credit card.
That area is near most of the Beatles homes (we have walked past all of them), so easy to add them to your walk if the weather is good. Two beautiful parks nearby, as well, if the weather is nice, Calderstones and Sefton.
We actually were not Beatles fans until we started spending so much time in Liverpool.
