Is the Bayeux Tapestry a part of the British Museum tour in the Best of London, or do I need to schedule it on the free time days?

Doubtful the tour includes a special exhibit at additional cost. The only way to find out for sure though is to call the RS tour office and ask about your specific tour. Depending on your tour dates, it may not even be possible to get tickets for your free time as they are sold out until the end of the year.

Tickets from 10 September – 31 December 2026 have sold out. But it looks as if there will be a chance to buy tickets for 2027 starting in October (for both members and non- members). If I read it correctly, anyone purchasing a museum membership after August 27 will be able to book an uncharged ticket (with a date/ time to be scheduled) as part of the new membership.

yes, it looks like 2 tickets if you're a member today or earlier, and 1 ticket starting tomorrow.

Thanks to those who responded. To see the exhibit, you have to be a member of the British Museum, which is very expensive. I'll wait to see it when it is back in France.

Just to clarify, you don’t have to be a member to obtain tickets to see the exhibit. However, each paying membership allows one to be able to receive an uncharged ticket for next year’s opening times, which are pre-slotted for attendance.
If you want to increase your chances of obtaining tickets as a non- member, one can sign up (free) online through the website for notification of when the booking will open (October 2026 is what is listed) and they also suggest you set up your account on the booking page to save time from doing it when the booking actually starts. In July, non member hopefuls (as reported by RS members, too) were in the queue for 5 hours+, but were successful in getting their tickets.
But waiting till it goes back to France or going to Reading are certainly great options!
