Bayeux tapestry tickets at British museum

Sadly, I missed the window to purchase bayeux tapestry tickets for this fall when I’m in London.

Does anyone know of alternative ways to see the exhibition? I was wondering if private tour guides might have after hour privileges?

I’d appreciate your creative thoughts.

I appreciate and admire handwork both the design and execution.

Thanks.

It isn't the original, but Reading Museum has a full scale replica of the tapestry which was embroidered in 1885 by a group of Victorian needlewomen. They copied the original by following designs traced onto linen from photographs. Woollen yarns were dyed to match the originals as closely as possible, and the project was completed in little over a year.

Entry to the museum is free (although they do appreciate a donation).

I’m not sure if there is any work around as even members need to prebook for this exhibit. I would just make sure you’re signed up for the email list and keep an eye in case they release any extra tickets.

I don’t think there will be private tours being offered and definitely not via third parties. Everything would be organised by the museum.
