I'm curious if anyone has been up Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station. Was it worth the cost? (At 15-20GBP it's still far less expensive than the Shard!) Anything else to see/visit in that area?
Well everything inside the Power Station if you like shopping. Otherwise walk along the Thames path to Battersea Park. There’s a zoo or just enjoy seeing the Peace Pagoda. You could take a paddle boat excursion if you wish.
I’d walk from there over the Chelsea Bridge through the grounds of the Royal Hospital, stopping at their gift shop and on up to either the Rose and Crown or Fox and Hounds for a proper pint. Both pubs serve lunch.
From there if into art then a stop at the Saatchi Gallery. Pretty full day.
Cheers
Battersey Dog's Home is just a short walk away and they do occasionally do tours... But they do book up quickly and the next available date is end of November...
A friend of mine is in London right now and she attended a movie today at the power station. I don't know if it was a special event or if there's actually a movie theater in the building.
If you're a Pink Floyd fan, it would be cool just to be there.
I get a kick out of the vlogger Hannah Ricketts, she goes EVERYWHERE in London. Anyway she did the lift and you might enjoy her take on it (I won't give any spoilers)
Yes there is a movie theatre (cinema in UK speak) in the power station, with an annexe theatre in the railway arches close by.
Thanks! I suspect that the next time I'm in London it'll only be for a day, so I might choose this as a different (for me, anyway) thing to do. Thanks for the itinerary suggestion, Claudia. Phred, thanks for the link: I'll probably take her advice and only go up the lift if I can book it for the lowest price. And I would LOVE to visit the dogs and cats! Must keep that in mind when planning the next trip.
