We have to catch a 2:00pm flight out of Heathrow at the end of our Best of South England tour. I’m looking for suggestions for the best way to go directly from Bath to the airport via bus, transport hire or possibly Uber. Thank you
You have to be at the airport at 11 am.
I would feel safer staying at Heathrow the night before, even if it means forgoing the final night of accommodation included in the tour.
If for some reason you cannot do so, I would go by train (as early in the day as possible); it tends to be a bit more reliable than road transport.
Bath Bus Station depart at 08.45
Heathrow Airport arrive at 11.00
But if going by train keep a close eye on upcoming strikes, as they are back with us.
I personally wouldn't want to be on the 0845 coach shown. That is a bit tight for my own liking being right on the 3 hour minimum. Not sure what day of the week that one runs but on a Saturday and Sunday it is at 0820, which gives another 20 minute leeway.
Purely personally I would opt for the earlier coach at about 0630, or for a train at around 0730/0800.
It's about your perception of risk.
Both coach and car are subject to traffic jams and construction.
National Express has two options. Direct to LHR terminal 2/3 in 2 hr 20 min or change in Bristol to terminal 5 in 3 hr. Both would need an early morning - so maybe no breakfast. But cheaper than the train to Paddington and then the express to LHR.
Is this a RS tour? The guide will ask tour members for their flight info or post tour plans a day or two before the end of the tour. They will help schedule transportation to airports, rail station and train tickets, etc. If times match up they may pair travelers together with minicabs
that will be a tight connection - I hope all goes well for you.
There's a direct coach - it's quicker by train via Paddington
The train with changes at Reading and Hayes & Harlington is pretty much the same time as via London (depends a bit on the Terminal) and is the route that usually comes up in searches these days as it is almost always cheaper (only not really if you have snagged a cheap Express ticket well in advance). Does mean two changes rather than one but at least they are both now decent places to change at from an accessibility viewpoint.
Direct coach would probably be my preference if I were choosing but the timing does need to work and it appears rather fine in this circumstance.
