Bath to Heathrow

We will be in Bath in early September for a couple of days before we fly back home from Heathrow. We will not have a car and aren't sure whether bus or train or a combination of the two will provide the most convenient way to make the trip. Any help with possible options would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

The "...most convenient way...possible options...". The most convenient option would be a private car service. Not the cheapest, but definitely the most convenient. And, depending on the number in your party, it might not be that much more expensive. We use a Bath based company (chauffertravel.co.uk) whose email is enquiries@chauffertravel.co.uk to take us from Bath to Bristol airport and were quite pleased with the service and the price.

We took the bus as it went to the airport, rather than the train to Paddington, and back to airport. However, it took longer than scheduled so I would give a big cushion of time. In fact, I would take the earliest possible bus or train that day regardless of your flight time. Tickets bought online in advance were about £20/pp. Bus was clean and comfortable.

You'll note that the bus station and the rail station in Bath are next to each other.
