Bath to Cotswolds?

Is it possible to do plan our own tour of the Cotswolds from Bath without using a tour guide? I'd love to go with MadMax but they are all booked. It seems like we can take a train to Moreton-in-Marsh. Could we just follow Rick's tips in his travel guide and go from there? Do you have other tour guides besides Mad Max that you'd recommend? There will be 4 of us traveling: my husband and me, our teenage daughter, and my 70+ year old mom (her first trip abroad!).

If I were to return to the Cotswolds, I'd choose a guided tour, probably either Rabbie's or the Go Cotswolds people. I think we'd have gotten more out of our day spent in the area. But seeing it on our own via car, focusing on Broadway with a brief visit to Chipping Campden, didn't leave me wanting. We headquartered in Bristol.

We did Mad Max when we were in Bath, but were told Lion Tours was a good substitute.

Thank you for this information! It seems like Lion Tours might not be in operation any more? Or else I have the wrong website.

Hi Lorri,
If you can take a train to Moreton-in-Marsh you will have two options to tour the Cotswolds, Cotswolds Tour Bus by Shakespeare Coaches and Go Cotswolds. Both tours offer exactly the same itinerary and visit exactly the same places but I suggest you compare the prices as I think you'll find the Cotswolds Tour Bus is much more competitive on price. The Cotswolds Tour Bus also offer a 2 Day Tour which has a second day in Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's hometown. The trains are fast and regular to Moreton-in-Marsh so I highly recommend you take the tour from there.
