Bath to Bourton-on-Water without a car

We are taking this journey in May, using a Two-Together railcard.
We can take the train from Bath to Moreton-in-Marsh via Reading and Oxford, and then bus/taxi to B-o-W. Total travel time about 2 ¼ hrs, costing around L130 total (assuming we buy train tickets at the last minute, which we'll do).
Or...
Train to Swindon, then taxi to B-o-W. Total travel time around one hour, costing around L125?

Does that seem right? I feel like I'm missing something.

Thanks!

You can go 2 ways from Bath to Bourton-on-the-Water. Going the easterly route via Oxford is more expensive and takes longer. I suggest you go by train from Bath to Bristol Temple Meads where you change trains for one going to Cheltenham - though the actual train is likely to be going much further - even to Scotland.

Buying today for travel today, the cost would be £21.40 for the 2 of you (including the Railcard discount). The journey from Bath to Cheltenham can take as little as 1 hour 8 minutes or a little longer. Train schedules & fares:> https://www.traintickets.com/?/ or >

The station at Cheltenham is a good mile from the centre - so take a local bus and have a look at Cheltenham as well. From Cheltenham to Bourton-on-the-Water, you will need Pullham’s Bus 801 and the journey will take 45 minutes. (Pay the driver).

If time is a factor but cost isn't much of one, try Bath Private Car Hire. Train with two transfers then a bus/taxi is a lot of work and time. How many nights are you spending there? Day trip or overnight and you're spending a considerable chunk of it on the road. I don't know about the Swindon to BoW route. I didn't submit a dummy request for a price quote on these routes, but it was reasonable a few years ago.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I’ll take a look at these options.
We will be in Bath for a week, and then B-o-W for 4 days. So, not in a hurry but I’d rather keep it as simple as possible.
