Bath- Hotels/BNB’s

We are going to be in Bath mid August for three nights without a car……
I have been looking into stays for over a month…
Some of the most suggested places to stay have also come with recent (2026 and 2025) reviews of cleanliness issues, peeling paint and even mold in the showers… these reviews are mixed with positive reviews….. 😟😟

We want to be within a short walking distance of DT/Old Town or in town. Celebrating our 40th, so willing to splurge a bit.

We stayed in and really loved the Hotel Indigo Bath. It was decently priced but quite upmarket- highly recommended.

We also stayed at Hotel Indigo Bath. It was a good experience for us. Someone knows what this is called... but they have a special phone at the front desk to call a taxi for you if need be. Very useful for us in the evening.

We had a very nice stay at No 15 by GuestHouse, Bath. We had finished the RS Southern England tour and wanted somewhat of a splurge for our last couple of nights. It did not disappoint. The room, staff, and location were just the right fit for us.

Another vote for the Indigo. Quirky. Comfy bed. Quiet. Great breakfast. Well located.

We stayed at The Royal Crescent Hotel and had the most delightful stay. I didn't feel the walk to the main sites was too far, although it was about 20 minutes from the train station (we did the walk when we arrived in Bath). Getting back to the hotel is partly uphill, so it is a little workout. We took a taxi to the train station when we were leaving Bath. I loved our room which had a separate sitting area with a fireplace.

For a 40 anniversary (congratulations!!), it might be a nice splurge!

I stayed at the Queensberry Hotel in Bath and loved it- great service, a room with a deep bathtub and delicious breakfast.

The Brooks Guesthouse was great. Their breakfast was very special as well.

Also, nearby was the Scallop Shell Restaurant that had the very best fish and chips we have EVER had.

Been to Bath the past 3 Decembers and have stayed each time at Hotel Indigo. The location is wonderful. It is a five minute walk from the train station, 5-7 minute walk to the Abbey/Roman Baths and there are amazing places to eat at all price points within easy walking distance. The other thing about the Hotel Indigo is if you contact them in advance, they have a wonderful concierge team. I have had them arrange for airport transportation, restaurant reservations, high-tea tickets at the Pump Room. I can do that myself, but it is nice to have someone take care of the logistics. Also at the Hotel Indigo, they have a minibar with free drinks, area to prepare tea/coffee, and cookies.

We stayed at the B&B Three Abbey Green, with very noice rooms and a great breakfast service. But my tip is that if you are planning to take bus tours from there (e.g., Mad Max tours) see where there pickup meeting point is. When we were there, it was at the Abbey Hotel, near the Abbey and Baths, across the street from Sally Lunn's restaurant. Our B&B was around the corner from that hotel.

We want to be within a short walking distance of DT/Old Town or in town.

Bath isn’t very big and it doesn’t have a New Town as it’s old everywhere. (I know the New Town in Edinburgh is 300 years old but the term there differentiates the area from the Old Town). Don’t know what DT means but there is nowhere in Bath that isn’t a short or reasonably short walk or bus ride away from places of interest, albeit some parts are a bit hilly.
