Bath and Stonehenge Tours

Hello!
I will be travelling with my Husband to London June 24th - July 3rd, 2022.
I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions for a day trip to Bath and Stonehenge.

Is it better to go through a tour company or is it doable by ourselves? Not too keen on renting a car.
What are some reputable tour companies?
Thanks for your suggestions!

Trying to see both Bath and Stonehenge in one day by pubic transport is not a good idea. Very difficult if not impossible.

Trying to see both in one day also not a great idea as Bath has plenty to see on its own.

Personaly, my suggestions would be to limit yourself to Bath. Take an early train into Bath and an evening train back and you will have time to take in the town.

But there are tour companies that will take you to both. Evans Evans is a large company offering a multitude of tours.

Frank is right - pick one or other depending on your interests.

I have a tour reserved with Evan Evans to see Stonehenge and Windsor on the same day. The Stonehenge tour is a sunset tour, so we will visit Windsor earlier in the day. That tour is in April, so I'll give you feedback if you like.

I'd like to hear about your experience too, Ladyvet27.

We've spent 4 days in Bath and 1 day in Windsor on previous vacations (and loved them both), so we don't need quickie stops at either of them, but we hope to take a nice tour of Stonehenge between May 28-June 12.

Inner circle and dusk or sunset tour sounds appealing and including either Avebury or Salisbury would be pleasant.

Did you enjoy your recent tour or do you have advice about a tour provider?

Both in one day would be too much.

Look at London Walks. www.walks.com

Great way to see either.

OR

From London train to Salisbury then bus to Stonehenge. Hour and a half ride from Waterloo Station.

For Bath same amount of time on a train from Paddington Station.

We booked the VIP sunrise tour, and it was amazing to walk inside the circle with just our small group! We did drive there, but you can take the train and stay overnight nearby. Then arrange for a cab to drive you to make the booking. I agree though that the places are too far away to do both on the same day. English roads are slow between traffic and speed limits. We did like Avebury, but without a car you will have a hard time getting there on your own. The cab fare will not be worth it.
