We will be in London for just three days including the August 28 bank holiday. Are there sights we should avoid, reservations we definitely need, or other advice to take advantage of a short stay and a busy weekend.. Thanks, JG in Oregon

i think most people if they have the chance for that last summer weekend will take the opportunity to leave London and go somewhere at the shore or in the countryside . . . but I may not be right!

London is always busy - oddly it can be more so on Bank Holidays in other countries in Europe rather than in the UK.

Indeed -- because when we in other countries in Europe get bank holidays, we loooooooove to come to London and take advantage of a long weekend! I know that I do!
And Jim, you can rest assured that Aug 28 is NOT a holiday in France, so you don't have to worry about French residents coming for a long weekend in London!
